Hongkong Land is delighted to present Transcending the Gongbi Tradition: Contemporary Hong Kong Fine-Brush Painters, the first-ever joint showcase of nine established and emerging local ink artists: Chan Kwan-lok, Sam Cheng, Cherie Cheuk Ka-wai, Eunice Cheung Wai-man, Barbara Choi Tak-yee, Lai Kwan-ting, Jess Leung Lai-man, Joey Leung Ka-yin and Wilson Shieh. Curated by Dr Chen Fong-fong, the presentation features 31 paintings of landscapes, figures, birds and flowers, including many that are being shown for the first time and some that were newly created this year.
Ink, a millennia-old art form in Chinese visual art, has more recently been influenced by practices introduced from the West and remains an active source of inspiration in contemporary art practice. Transcending the Gongbi Tradition highlights the varied applications and interpretations of the ink aesthetic that the new generation of local ink artists has utilised to rejuvenate this art form. Through mastery of traditional fine-brush skills, these artists have developed new expressions and techniques to explore their complex emotions and spiritual aspirations.

置地公司呈獻「工筆新傳——傳統藝術在香港的當代探索」水墨作品選萃，滙聚九名本地水墨藝術精英（排名按筆劃序）：石家豪、卓家慧、張惠文、陳鈞樂、梁嘉賢、梁麗雯、蔡德怡、鄭丹珊和賴筠婷。這次活動由陳芳芳博士策展，精選共三十一幅山水、花鳥和人物的工筆畫作，包括首度展出的作品及今年新作。
水墨是訴說千年文化的中國視覺藝術形式，近代雖融會西方藝術手法，仍為當代藝術家帶來源源不絕的靈感。「工筆新傳」呈現新一代本地水墨藝術家豐富多元的創作，向前人借鑑之餘，融入自己的詮釋及風格，表現水墨的兼容美學。他們在繼承傳統的基礎上創新表現手法和造型技巧，探索複雜的自我情感及精神渴望。
